Virus Checkers = Time Consumers

Antivirus and adware software is imperative, but how effective is it?
© LivebyDesign.com.auIt might be reasonable to suggest that everyone who uses a computer has been affected by a virus or an adware program in some way. The moment something goes wrong on your screen and a delay of a few minutes, hours, days or weeks can result in everything between annoying and disasterous. So virus checkers are a worthy prevention. But what are the long term costs of virus checkers?

My personal experience has led me to analyse this quandry. A computer will run much faster with the antivirus software shut down. Risky you might say? Well yes! But when my computer has antivirus, email scanning, file scanning, internet scanning switched on - my computer begins to resemble the speed of a 386sx from the 1980's!!!

Lately, I've been taking a minute here and there to completely disable the antivirus checker. Leaving it off for days at a time. Only starting the program to run a full disc check overnight. So far, touch wood, I've only ever eliminated the usual adware cookies, which are not threatening. Of course backing up daily is imperative with such a daring regimen. Restore points will also assure a safe place to return to, should the worst happen.

Speeding up the process...
The computer now runs at full pace. Without the virus checker, everything is faster and my entire day is much more productive! Now, if you only use your computer for an hour a day to email, check the news or your favourite sports' scores, then I recommend leaving the antivirus guardians switched on. This is because, even with the performance challenges, you won't be challenged by seconds - turning to minutes - turning to hours of production time lost.
