| Antivirus and adware software is imperative, but how effective is it? | |||||
My personal experience has led me to analyse this quandry. A computer will run much faster with the antivirus software shut down. Risky you might say? Well yes! But when my computer has antivirus, email scanning, file scanning, internet scanning switched on - my computer begins to resemble the speed of a 386sx from the 1980's!!! Lately, I've been taking a minute here and there to completely disable the antivirus checker. Leaving it off for days at a time. Only starting the program to run a full disc check overnight. So far, touch wood, I've only ever eliminated the usual adware cookies, which are not threatening. Of course backing up daily is imperative with such a daring regimen. Restore points will also assure a safe place to return to, should the worst happen. Speeding up the process... |
