| Apple does it again with the iPhone. Having led the world by implementing the term 'user-friendly' with computers. Apple reinvents the phone. | |||||
From the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s and 90s, Apple Computers set the pace with functional personal computing that was easy to use. Apple always went the extra mile with style and presentation. Just as mobile phones had all possible features you could ever fit in the palm of your hand - Apple releases the iPhone. How could it compete with all the famous existing brands like Nokia, Blackberry and Motorola? Only after several personal recommendations, I decided to try the iPhone. Opening the packaging with the usual Apple presentation and style builds confidence in the product. With only four buttons... can it be functional? There is the usual quick-start guide with easy steps to get you started, but you can't resist just turning the phone (oops iPhone) on and seeing what it can do. The soft Apple icon appears and two or three step by step prompts call for first time settings. The now famous array of coloured icons appear next and that's it! What? That's it? Aren't their endless settings and restarts, consults with instructions and helplines, frustrations? No. Just dial a number, enter a calendar note, text a friend, check your email, surf the net, set a call diversion, play some music... whatever you want - right from the start! It's just that easy! Yes... Apple did it again. For the second time in three decades, they invented a new paradigm for an existing technology. A mobile phone which does everything, with ease. Now that's useful technology! |
